TRIGGER fingers and shutters at the ready for a fantastic photography competition being held in Worcestershire to mark the beginning of autumn.

The Snap & Win competition, being run to help celebrate the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, is open to Worcester News readers in conjunction with King’s School, Worcester, and high street camera shop Jessops.

Entrants will need to have a keen eye for photography to try and capture this year’s theme ‘autumn’.

There are three age categories – under 11s, 11 to 18, and over 18s, with prizes for each:
• Under 11s: Olympus 5020, 5x optical zoom
• 11-18: Nikon Coolpix S4000
• Over 18: Canon Powershots x210

Worcester News picture editor Jonathan Barry said he had already seen a snapshot of the talent in Worcestershire from photographs he is regularly sent by readers – so this was a chance for some of them to win prizes for their work.

“This is a way you can put your skills to the test and win some superb prizes,” he said.

“We want people to try to look for some unusual angles and not to be afraid to experiment. Autumn provides us with plenty of opportunities to experiment with such beautiful colours about and we are really looking forward to seeing the entries.”

Russ Mason, marketing director for King’s School, Worcester, said they wanted entries from all ages.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to show off your talent and also get your photographs published in the paper. We hope to get a really diverse set of photos sent to us and we can’t wait to see the entries,” he said.

The top 10 photographs will be chosen from each category, before a team of judges, including Worcester News editor Kevin Ward and King’s School head Tim Keyes select the winners.

To enter, send your pictures, with your name, age, address and telephone number to yournews@worcesternews.co.uk with the title Snap & Win.

You can also add your pictures direct to our online Flickr group here and see them in our slideshow here.

The closing date for entries is December 11.
