VANDALS have sprayed black paint across the walls of a newly re-opened Worcester pub.

The landlady of the Crown and Anchor in Hylton Road woke up yesterday morning to find the ugly black lines scrawled across brickwork on three of the pub’s cream walls as well as on some of the windows. Lisa Wilshaw said she got up at around 5.50am and immediately discovered the vandalism.

She said there was CCTV footage of the culprits carrying out the attack. She said: “According to the CCTV footage it happened at 4.45am.

“They’ve got a water pistol spraying paint.

“I haven’t barred anyone. We haven’t had any trouble here.

“The students have been amazing so I really don’t know what it is.”

The Hylton Road pub reopened eight weeks ago after being closed for a year and Ms Wilshaw said she was keen to run a ‘proper’ pub with darts, pool and skittles facilities. Ms Wilshaw said: “After all the work I’ve done getting it ready, now this.”

She added that Marstons brewery had sent people to look at the damage and would be arranging a clean-up.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious between 11.30pm and 6am should call police on 0300 333 3000.
