ED Miliband has been declared the new leader of the Labour party.
In a narrow win, Mr Miliband beat off competition from his older brother David.
He secured 50.65 per cent of the vote to his brother's 49.35 per cent.
He also beat candidates Ed Balls, Andy Burnham and Diane Abbott, who were eliminated in earlier rounds.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Miliband thanked the Labour conference for the "amazing honour."
He said he now planned to unify the party.
