PEACE lovers have been encouraged to chalk colourful pictures along Worcester’s riverside.

For the fifth year, the Chalk 4 Peace event has been held by the South Quay fountains to celebrate international peace day.

Passersby were encouraged to draw pictures or write messages of peace throughout Saturday and Sunday as part of the peace rally, which happens across the world.

One man who took part, who gave his name only as Dave, said: “It’s to be pro-peace rather than anti-war.

“It gets youngsters thinking about it and their parents have to explain what peace is.”

Evie May Aubin, aged four, and Finley Aubin, aged seven, of Besford, both took part in the event by drawing colourful patterns on the pavement.
