THE Bishop of Worcester is promoting the sale of an Easter egg which explains the significance of the holiday.

The Rt Rev Dr John Inge, pictured, visited the Claines CofE Primary School to unveil the Real Easter Egg to pupils, including Chloe Glover, 11, and Owen Roberts, 10, and urge others across the county to place their orders.

Despite over 80 million Easter eggs being sold each year, this is the first to directly reference the Christian background to the holiday, with a side panel explaining “the real meaning of Easter”.

Rt Rev Inge is calling on church schools across the country to place orders for the new egg before the start of December to help encourage supermarkets to stock the egg.

He said: "The Real Easter Egg gives church schools their first ever chance to buy an Easter egg that not only tastes good but does good.”

The eggs are produced by The Meaningful Chocolate Company. A proportion of the profit from each egg will be donated to charity.
