A MEETING place for many of Droitwich's community groups has received much-needed investment to bring it up to date.

The entrance to Rotary House, in Corbett Avenue, has had a ramp built and a toilet converted to help disabled visitors to the building, which is home to more than 20 local groups.

The work was carried out after a questionnaire two years ago aimed at users of the building showed that improvements were needed to help many of them. Around 75 per cent of all those visiting Rotary House are over 70 and some of them suffer with disabilities.

The alterations cost around £16,500 and were funded through charitable contributions and grants including donations from Droitwich Town Council, an Awards for All grant, Wychavon District Council and the HBOS Foundation.

To mark the completion of the work Peter Offer, the President of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland attended a celebration party to thank all those who had helped with the fundraising for the work.

John Bodger, treasurer of Rotary House management committee said: "Around 40 people attended the event and it was a very enjoyable day."
