DISTINCTIVE roof cones on top of Worcester’s £60 million super library are starting to change the city’s skyline.

The Worcester Library and History Centre, a partnership project between the University of Worcester and Worcestershire County Council, is really starting to take shape.

A county council spokesman said: “The arrival of the distinctive roof cones marks a very important and exciting stage of the construction.

“The new building will add to Worcester’s skyline and for the first time people will be able to see the scale of construction and give them a taste of the things to come.”

Once the library and history centre in The Butts opens, due in July 2012, it will bring a range of services under one roof, including the county’s record office, the Worcestershire Hub, meeting rooms, exhibition spaces and even one of the largest children’s libraries in the UK. It will be the size of a small primary school. The centre will create hundreds of jobs.
