A CHAMPION racehorse owner has rubbished suggestions that Worcester Racecourse is unsafe for competition.

Animal rights group Animal Aid had said its horse death watch counter showed seven racehorses had to be destroyed after racing on Pitchcroft during this year’s National Hunt season – the second highest of any course.

Animal Aid’s horse racing consultant Dene Stansall said the course was “unsafe” and blamed flooding and a high water table.
