FROM a girl wielding a chainsaw to a hard blues band, this week’s Worcester’s Got Talent was a huge success.

The latest round of the talent show held in association with your Worcester News took place at Sin bar in New Street on Wednesday and all nine acts that took to the stage went through.

There is a total prize money of £5,000, with £2,500 for the winner and £500 for the most improved performer up for grabs in the annual contest, and competition is hotting up.

Guest judge Bhavisha Panchal, entertainment advertising representative with the Worcester News, said: “It was a fantastic night. We had nine acts and none was voted off.

“There was a great turnout. The boys loved the girl with the chainsaw, but for me, it was the blues band Dr Stanley’s Medicine Show who really stood out.”

Inspired by the wildly popular television show Britain’s Got Talent, the Worcester show puts acts of every calibre on stage in front of three judges as well as a live audience.

So far the audience has seen dancers, human beatboxes, soloists, and full bands.

This week’s guest performers were local singers Gathan Cheema and Steve Maitland, who also helped judge.

The next round of the competition will take place at Sin on Wednesday. There is still time for people to enter, but application forms must be handed in by the end of today.

To enter, fill out the form here or pick one up from Sin bar.

The glittering grand final will take place in January and raise money for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign, chosen charity of your Worcester News.
