EXOTIC birds have been stolen from their elderly owner in the run-up to Christmas.
An African grey parrot worth £400 was stolen from an aviary in Great Witley, near Worcester, between 5pm on Friday, December 17, and 9am the following day.
Twenty canaries, two yellow Indian ringnecks and one green Indian ringneck were also taken in the two weeks leading up to the parrot theft.
Investigating officer PC Adrian Hunting, of south Worcestershire police, said: “The elderly owner, a man in his 80s, has been keeping birds for more than 70 years and is very upset after the thefts. He has also recently suffered a bereavement.”
PC Hunting has bought new locks for the aviaries.
