TRIBUTES have been paid to a 36-year-old Malvern man who died in a hostel for the homeless on Christmas Day.

Ricki Pullen was found unconscious by staff at Maggs Day Centre, in Deansway, Worcester, at about 6am.

When they were unable to wake him, they rang for an ambulance and performed mouth-to-mouth until it arrived, but nothing more could be done and he died soon after.

Donna King, night assessment centre manager, said Mr Pullen’s death was a tragedy.

She said: “We didn’t know him for long but we know he was a lovely guy and will be missed by a lot of people, and he had loads of friends.

"We are supporting the people who knew him and his friends at the moment. It’s just tragic.”

It is unclear what caused his death at the moment, but a post-mortem examination has been carried out.

Tributes have been left for Mr Pullen, a former pupil of Dyson Perrins High School, Malvern, on Facebook, with friends saying they were shocked and saddened at the news. Many refer to his keen support of Chelsea Football Club.

Jane Stimson said: “The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words. A total shock to us all.

"Will keep people informed as to funeral arrangements.”

She said all would be welcome at the funeral.

Teresa Johnson said: “Rip ricki I just cant believe it! x x x”

Samantha Storey-Day said: “My thoughts are with your family, will miss your smiley face RIP xx”.

Charlie Belsten said: “Omg ur be missed mate sleep tight r.i.p xx.”

Sue George added: “You were lovely Ricki, RIP xx”.

A police spokesman said they were called by Worcestershire Royal Hospital at 7.36am on Christmas Day.

He said the death was being treated as unexplained and the coroner had been informed. An inquest is expected to open shortly.
