THESE are the dazzling winners of our great photography contest.

The Snap & Win competition, held to celebrate autumn, was launched earlier this year for Worcester News readers in conjunction with the King’s School, Worcester, and High Street camera shop Jessops.

We received dozens of entries, but eventually the judges chose 10-year-old William Woof, of Sale Green, Droitwich; 16-year-old Bethany Nicholls, of Broughton Hackett, near Worcester, and 27-year-old Steven Turner, of Beaconhill Drive, St John’s, Worcester, as the three winners. The photos were judged by Worcester News editor Kevin Ward, and the King’s School headteacher Tim Keyes.

Worcester News picture editor Jonathan Barry said there had been some great entries.

“We had some top class photos sent which really captured the essence of autumn and we were really impressed by the level of entries we had this year,” he said. “It shows that there are some good amateur photographers out there who really know how to take a great picture.”

As winner of the under 11s category, William was presented with an Olympus 5020 camera, with 5x optical zoom. “I was rather surprised to find out I had won,” he said. “I wanted to have a go and I’m so glad I did.

“I am so pleased though, and I have gone out with my new camera in the snow and the woods taking pictures. I think I will carry it on as a hobby.”

Bethany won a Nikon Coolpix S4000 in the 11 to 18 category and Mr Turner received a Canon Powershots x210 in the over 18s section.

Mr Turner said it was a nice surprise as he found out the day he returned from holiday.

“I wasn’t really expecting it so it was nice to find out. I am not a professional photographer by any means but I enjoy taking photographs of my children and displaying them in my house.

“I would like to explore photography a little bit more now and it’s lovely to win.”
