A £10,000 reward has been put up for information leading to the arrest of a ‘dangerous’ man on the run for more than nine years.

Detectives believe Worcestershire traveller James Doe, aged 37, who is wanted for a £30,000 antiques raid, may be in the Evesham-Pershore area.

He was charged in March 2001 for a burglary in Droitwich, during which many expensive antiques, worth a total of £30,000, were stolen from an occupied house.

He was granted court bail but failed to appear for his next court hearing and has not been seen since.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Watson of West Mercia Police said: “We have been attempting to trace James Doe for many years and as time goes on our determination to put him before the court only increases.

“We are searching a number of areas around the country but we have reason to believe he could still be in Worcestershire, or has been staying here recently, in particular the Evesham and Pershore area.

“We are offering a substantial reward for any information that leads to his arrest.”

Last February, we reported how Doe had appeared on the most wanted section in Crimewatch.

Police have warned the public not to approach Doe as he is classed as ‘dangerous’.

Officers are distributing ‘wanted’ posters of Doe in and around Evesham and Pershore.

DCI Watson said: “The poster has two photographs of Mr Doe. While one is from 2001, the other is more recent and although it is not very clear, it does give a good idea of how he has aged.
