WORCESTERSHIRE Under 18s were unable to contain a slick Birmingham FA side in a 5-1 Midland Counties Youth Championship away defeat.

In blustery conditions, the FA County Youth Cup semifinalists created problems with their passing style.

But the visitors began brightly with Ben Hayes and George Coley impressing.

The youngest member of the team, Harry Osbourne, fired Worcestershire ahead on seven minutes after showing fine skill to beat his man and drill home left-footed in-off the far post.

As the first-half wore on, Birmingham took over but their equaliser was a harsh penalty put away by Alex Gudger on 17 minutes.

The hosts made the most of space out wide against Worcestershire’s 3-5-2 formation and their man-of-the-match Leon Weller put them ahead for the first time on 31 minutes from 25 yards.

Keeper Haydn Whitcombe prevented further goals until the 55th minute when he spilled a shot for Jordan Brown to slot home.

Whitcombe denied Weller brilliantly on 72 minutes but the danger-man headed the rebound into the net.

Birmingham completed the win when Chris Reeves nodded in unmarked at the far post with two minutes left.
