A WORCESTER-based publisher is preparing for backlash when she launches a book that claims Jesus can cure homosexuality.

The book Where Is Your Brother? is due to be launched at St Paul’s Church in St Paul’s Street, Worcester, next month.

Author Marion Heath is travelling from her home in Canada to be at the launch and publisher Eileen Mohr is also hoping to arrange book signings in the city.

“We wanted this to be a more high profile launch than we usually have because of the nature of the story,” said the 79-year-old, who has been running Crossbridge Books since 1995.

"Our books deal with Christian themes and this is one we particularly believe in.

“We are expecting it to be controversial because of its claim that Jesus can cure homosexuals and we are ready for the controversy.”

Mrs Mohr, a former teacher and proof-reader who runs Crossbridge Books with 80-year-old husband Gunther, said the story is about two men called Ryan and Tony who enjoy white-water rafting adventures together.

Ryan leaves his wife and teenage children and moves in with Tony, who has a dramatic experience that leads him to realise the power of Jesus and to reject his homosexual partnership.

“We are expecting homosexual people to object to the idea that Tony can be cured of his homosexual tendencies,” said Mrs Mohr.

“We want them to read the book and find out more about the healing power of Jesus. A lot of people have been led astray and the present attitude is almost claiming that it is normal.

"Some seem to be born that way, but a lot of psychiatrists say it is a result of our environment. I know Jesus can heal them.”

Mrs Mohr, a member of Far Forest Baptist Church in Far Forest, near Kidderminster, runs the publishing firm through the internet and has published more than 30 books with Christian themes.

The launch of Where is Your Brother? is set to take place at the church between 2pm and 4pm on March 19.
