ENTERING the Miss Worcester contest could be the first step to the most glamorous year of your life – just ask the current Miss England.

Jessica Linley has only been wearing the Miss England crown for six months, but already she has packed more into her time than most of us could dream of in a year.

Not only were there the five weeks in China competing in the Miss World competition, but there have also been trips to places like Antigua and a forthcoming trip to Dubai to celebrate St George’s Day.

Miss Linley said: “Going to China was absolutely fantastic – I’ve always wanted to go. I do a bit of travelling as part of my role – often other countries want you to visit.”

As Miss England – and like Miss Worcester – 21-year-old Miss Linley has many different roles to perform.

These range from public appearances or deciding how best to spend the money raised by the competition for its charity, the Variety Children’s Club.

It is also a chance to try your hand at modelling and even presenting.

“Being Miss England is a really great opportunity, but it is what you make of it,” said Miss Linley.

“It is a full-time job and it is not for the faint-hearted.”

This must seem a world away from Miss Linley’s life last year, which revolved around her law degree at Nottingham University.

She won the Miss Nottingham title before making it through to the Miss England finals, a two-day event which was held in Birmingham.

“It is really quite nice to meet some like-minded girls,” she said of the competition, which she would recommend everyone entering.

“Miss England is certainly not about being the most beautiful girl in the country. It’s so much more than that.

“You have also got to have personality.”
