A CLUB which helps people with leg ailments has had a leg-up of its own from its friends.

The Worcester Leg Club not only helps people with severe leg ailments but also provides a life-line social club for its members.

Recently, it was struggling to source equipment for members until it contacted the Worcestershire Partnership for help tracking down the items.

After some research and a series of phone calls, the partnership’s staff located two Zimmer frames from Age Concern, along with a wheelchair secured on long-term loan.

The equipment is now being used at the club, based at the Tolladine Centre, Worcester.

They also secured cash for a hearing loop to be installed at the centre.

Councillor Andy Roberts, club chairman, said: “It is wonderful this new equipment has been tracked down.

“It really makes such a difference to the lives of the members and to the fantastic nurses who treat them while they are here.

“We rely on the kindness of donations, funding and volunteers, so a big thank you to the Worcestershire Partnership and Age Concern for all their help.”

The Leg Club is led by a team of district nurses who provide community-based treatment, education and ongoing care for people of all ages who experience leg problems such as varicose veins, skin tears, lymphodema and ulcers.

No appointment is required to attend and treatment is free.

Any voluntary or community group which feels the partnership could help their work can call 01905 728738 for details.
