This will be a fantastic day for all bikers

MOTORCYCLISTS from across Worcestershire and beyond are being invited to a free event celebrating all things biking.

The Rider Skills Day will take place at Worcester Warriors rugby ground on Sunday, May 8, as part of a joint initiative between West Mercia Safer Roads Partnership, Worcester and Hereford Advanced Motorcyclists (WHAM), West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm. Among the attractions will be free assessed rideouts with experienced bikers, displays from local dealers and a free prize draw to win a Skills for Life course from the Institute of Advanced Motorists worth £139.

Katy Jenkins, of the Safer Roads Partnership, said: “It promises to be a great day out for riders. It doesn’t matter if you’re thinking about buying a bike or just getting started, or have been riding for years and are an experienced biker, there will be something for everyone.”

Brian Morgan, chairman of WHAM, said the group was delighted to be working on the event with the partnership.

“Our primary aim is to help bikers to get the most out of riding by being able to make progress on the road but to do so with due regard for their own safety and that of others,” he said.

“We are keen to encourage as many riders as possible to take this opportunity – it will cost nothing but could well save you a great deal.”

The assessed rides will be available on the day on a first-come-first-served basis, but riders can also book in advance by emailing their full name and postcode to events@wham-motorcycling.org.
