THE use of social media played a key role in the reporting of the trial after the judge allowed journalists to use Twitter in the courtroom.
Crime reporter James Savage used his mobile phone to post instant messages onto the social networking site as evidence was heard by the jury at Birmingham Crown Court.
Tweets were fed on to articles here on the website and members of a Gabby Grady tribute page on Facebook were updated.
In December, Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge, had allowed Twitter to be used for court reporting.
