THREE Scouts from Worcestershire are ready for the trip of a lifetime to support wildlife conservation in Africa.

Nigel Watkinson, leader at 10th Worcester (Crown East) Scout Group, and Explorer Scouts Scott Matthews, aged 16, from Malvern, and Luke Benson, aged 15, from Broadheath, will be among a party of 49 scouts and leaders from across the UK who will visit Botswana in July and August next year.

During their time in Africa, the group will camp under canvas and help build a training centre in the Okanamgo Delta before going to the Mokoldi game reserve where they will construct a warden’s bungalow and an observation tower.

As part of the trip, each will need to raise £3,000 to cover travel costs and building materials for the projects.

Mr Watkinson said: “We are really looking forward to this expedition and although the experience will be awesome are aware that we will be able to make a difference to Scouts in Botswana.

“Scouting is part of an international movement, where we can all help transform the lives of others.

“We are prepared for this adventure and will do our best to help our fellow Scouts.

“Scouting is a voluntary organisation and as such any support with fund-raising is gratefully received.”

Anyone who would like to donate to the Scouts’ expedition can call Mr Watkinson on 01905 729031 or e-mail scoutmaster@10thworcester.org.uk.
