THE first Worcestershire Literary Festival is now well under way.

A search for the county’s first poet laureate, live Shakespeare at the Commandery and an authors’ fair were among the first events to take place.

The fair attracted 20 authors, with specialisms ranging from fiction to local history, and also helped to raise money for Worcestershire-based Noah’s Ark Trust – a grief support service for children and their families.

Organiser Linda Bromyard said: “Last year we raised about £216 for the charity, so this year we’ll hopefully achieve that and more. The festival is a celebration of the written word, not just for the high-profile names but for everybody.”

The festival continues until Monday, June 27. Full listings can be found at the Worcestershire Literary Festival office in CrownGate, Worcester, from 10am to 4pm.

Information is also available at worcslitfest.com, facebook.com/worcslitfest and on 0845 6520621.
