A COLLECTION of poetry and art will go on display in a Droitwich park to celebrate the town’s waterways.

Sarah Leavesley’s exhibition An Eyeful of Words was due to take place in July to mark the Droitwich Water Festival but was postponed because the town’s library is undergoing refurbishment.

The exhibition has been rescheduled to coincide with next year’s Worcestershire Literary Festival.

Instead, visitors can see a preview of canal-themed poetry and photography in Vines Park from Friday to Sunday, July 1-3, as part of Droitwich Water Festival.

The 36-year-old poet and photographer from Vernon Grove, Droitwich, who writes under the name Sarah James, said: “I love working with other art forms to bring poetry to a wider audience and it’s also been wonderful to write poems celebrating my home town, the whole county and local people. My thanks go to Sam and Julie for working with me and also to Janet Yates, Alan Davey, Peter Hawkins and John Dudley from Droitwich Art Network and to Jackie Passey from the library for their support after the cancellation of my original exhibition.”
