THE Women’s Institute was out in force yesterday as 800 members swarmed about the house and grounds of Croome Court.

It may have been overcast but the lack of sunshine certainly didn’t put a damper on the day’s “wonderful atmosphere”.

The Worcester Federation of WIs had spent weeks working in conjunction with the National Trust to ensure a fabulous day for one of its main awareness events.

From weave and spinner demonstrations to picnics in the gardens, the day was a huge success.

The trustee of the Worcester Federation, Sheena Murray, described the day as “brilliant” and said the National Trust couldn’t have been more helpful.

“Despite the vast number of guests, the staff at the National Trust ensured everyone’s needs were catered for,” she said.

“No one could say they didn’t feel relaxed.”

Members were treated to three fashion shows throughout the day, courtesy of House of Fraser, during which WI members strutted their stuff on the catwalk.
