THIS is the aftermath of a crash involving a police car.
West Mercia Police has launched an internal investigation after one of its response cars was involved in a crash with a silver Vauxhall Corsa, which left a shop front smashed up and a motorbike written off.
The accident happened outside Vision & Audio Services in Sutton Road, Kidderminster at about 2.20pm on Friday, leaving the shop front badly damaged and the front window shattered.
Residents in the terraced houses next door opened their front doors bemused to see a damaged police car parked in their yards.
Neither of the two police officers in the car, nor a man and two female passengers in the Corsa were hurt.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “Clearly there is greater scrutiny because of the involvement of a police vehicle and damage to property. Therefore it is important that we are robust around our appeal for witnesses to ensure as many people as possible are given the opportunity to come forward with information and our investigation is as thorough as it can be.
“Obviously the actions of the officers involved will be reviewed by us as part of the wider investigation into the collision.
"However they have not been suspended and are still on active duty.”
