A MAN who initially challenged evidence of a speeding case has been fined.

Patrick Cooper was clocked in his Toyota Celica doing 35mph in a 30mph zone along the B4209 Hanley Swan Road on March 18.

Cooper told Worcester Magistrates Court that at first he wrote to the DVLA to ask what evidence they had of his speeding because he was usually at work at the time of day the offence happened.

He then received pictures of a BMW car with a different registration but this was a mistake by the DVLA.

He initially planned to challenge the summons but eventually decided to plead guilty.

He said he had done his best to fill in the form which was sent to him about the offence.

The 53-year-old later received a court summons for failing to give information about who was driving his car.

In court, Cooper admitted responsiblity for the speeding offence and the original charge of failing to give information identifying the driver was withdrawn.

Cooper, of Bennetts Hill, Offenham, near Evesham, was fined £200, ordered to pay costs of £85 and also a victim surcharge of £15. His licence was endorsed with three points.
