A NEW campaign aims to show people in Malvern that it really is a safe place to live.

Malvern Hills Comm-unity Safety Partnership says research shows that despite low crime rates in the region, there is a disproportionate fear of crime.

The campaign will include a series of community events to educate people about rural road safety, anti-social behaviour, home security and domestic abuse.

Amanda Smith, chairman of the partnership, said: “Malvern Hills is a safe place to live, work and visit with low crime levels regularly reducing year on year.

“The levels and types of crime experienced in other areas of the country are often rare in Malvern Hills and by working together with our partnership agencies, we aim to keep it this way.

“However, as is often the case in cities and towns up and down the country, there is a divide between perceptions of crime and actual crime figures.

“Our campaign will focus on community reassurance that will build confidence and deliver our messages.”
