IMPROVEMENTS to a Worc-estershire hospital have been viewed and praised by a county MP.

Harriett Baldwin took in a tour of the brand-new wards which are being created at Tenbury’s Community Hos-pital. During the rounds with matron Ginny Snape the West Worcester-shire MP talked with patients and staff as she inspected the £1.4 million refurbishment project.

Mrs Baldwin, a Tory backbencher, said: “I think the new buildings make a huge difference to the hospital and it will be amazing when all the work is complete.

“The building is airy and light and everyone says that it is a massive improvement.

“It is clearly a huge undertaking and Ginny and her team have clearly done an amazing job to keep the hospital fully open during the work.

“Local people really value the chance to recover from illness locally and this is a step towards making a massive improvement for our vital community hospital.”

Mrs Baldwin also praised the efforts of the Tenbury Community Hospital Lea-gue of Friends which has raised nearly £2 million in the last 12 years.

“Its fund-raising is staggering and I often tell my colleagues in Westminster about the amazing community spirit here in Tenbury,” she said.

Ms Snape said: “All the patients and staff are absolutely delighted with the progress so far. We are all very much looking forward to moving patients into the bright new modern space where they will be able to benefit from the improved facilities.”
