A SWITCHED-on student is riding the crest of a wave after his water sport design won a national competition.
Former RGS Worcester pupil Adam Pettitt won a national contest aimed at young designers with his design of the iSurf Trolley.
He won the 17 to 19 age category in the annual technology design and innovation challenge which is run by the Manufacturing Tech-nology Association.
The iSurf Trolley is a lightweight folding aluminium trolley designed to carry water sports equipment of any size to and from water sport sites, including beaches and lakes.
The keen windsurfer invented his product to plug a gap in the market based upon his own experiences.
“After seeing my dad try and drag his board and sail out of the lake I wanted to create something to stop that problem.
“After lots of research I found that there are no good products on the market for a reasonable price that a private windsurfer can use.
“I didn’t think I could win this competition, so getting into the final four from 100 entries was brilliant and winning overall was a fantastic feeling.”
The presentation of his award was made at the Yamazaki Mazak factory, Worcester.
The student now hopes to study product design at Nottingham University.
