DEDICATED followers of fashion and a new passion for thrift have boosted a charity shop’s sales.

The Daisychain Benevolent Fund clothing shop in St John’s Worcester, is having to launch another clothing drive after loyal customers all but cleared the rails.

The store manager Lynne Shergold puts the success down to her younger staff members expertly dressing the windows, and cash-savvy customers who know how to spot a bargain in the tough economic times.

“I don’t know what’s happened to my shop but we’ve done so well,” she said.

“It’s brilliant; I think it’s just the current climate – people can’t go anywhere else to buy this kind of good quality at the right price.

“And I think it’s also because my window displays are always young – I like them to be young because we get a lot of younger people in here now.

"I’ve got a girl here working and she’s in her early 20s and she knows what the youngsters want to see.

“We’ve also got some students from the University of Worcester who are working, and their friends come in and it’s going really well.”

The store desperately needs good quality unwanted men’s, women’s and children’s clothes, children’s toys, ladies’ shoes and handbags.

Daisychain has two shops in Worcester with a separate bookshop in St John’s, and also stores in Evesham and Barnards Green at Malvern and raises money for the Midlands Air Ambulance, Macmillan Cancer Support and Noah’s Ark Trust for bereaved children and their families.

• The store also needs a Saturday volunteer to work from 9am until 1pm.
