A CAMPAIGN to remind dog owners to pick up after their pooches has been launched in Worcestershire.

A survey commissioned by the Dogs Trust charity ahead of National Poop Scoop Week has revealed 98 per cent of UK residents have trod in dog mess.

It also found 97 per cent of people have witnessed dog owners leaving their pet to foul public areas.

Chris Slight, manager of the Dogs Trust Evesham rehoming centre, said: “Dog fouling is an issue Dogs Trust is determined to tackle.

"It is encouraging to see so many dog owners do carry poo bags and unfortunately it is the irresponsible dog owning minority that are giving dogs a bad name.

“We want people to be able to enjoy the clean public areas of Worcestershire all year round and if everyone remembers the importance of picking after their dog we can make a big difference.”
