FRENCH youngsters had a trip underground into the old jail cells as part of a week in Worcester.

The children are visiting from twin town Le Vesinet all this week, and are due to travel home tomorrow.

They have joined the North Worcester Venture Scheme, now in its 31st year and co-ordinated by Robert Loveless.

Together with city youngsters, the group met mayor David Tibbutt in the parlour at the Guildhall and then had a tour of the old cells below the building.

Mr Loveless said: “We had a splendid time and they were all impressed.”

The youngsters later climbed the cathedral tower’s 235 steps and had a dip in the pool at the Malvern Splash leisure centre.
