AN alcoholic has been sent to prison to help him “dry out”.
Sean Carroll was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for breaching his Crasbo at Worcester Magistrates Court.
He had been given the Crasbo – the conditions of which were to not be drunk or drinking in places where alcohol is prohibited and not behave in a way to cause harassment or distress – on Thursday, June 9.
Matt Dodson, prosecuting, at Worcester Magistrates, said members of the public called the police after they spotted Carroll, who lives at St Paul’s Hospice, Tallow Hill, drinking on the Cross on Monday.
He was also being abusive towards passers-by.
Barry Newton, defending, said Carroll, aged 37, had been given a community order and it is hoped probation may help him tackle his problems.
Chairman of the bench Derek Styles said: “Your record shows constant breaches of court orders. This bench is sending you to custody for 12 weeks. It is an opportunity to dry out.”
