IF YOU go down to ... Hallow this week you’re in for a big surprise.
For (nearly) every bear that ever there was has gathered in the village for this year’s Teddy Bear Competition.
More than 30 teddy bear scarecrows have appeared around the village this week, made from anything and everything including straw, carpet and even pieces of toast.
The competition, which is now in its fourth year, has attracted a range of entries from Cap’n Beardseye by Maurice Whitehouse to Sweeney Ted the Demon Bearber by John Jordan and Exhaus-ted by Mike Baldwin.
A lot of people have already turned out to see the bears after collecting their free copy of the Teddy trail map from Ladygo Stores and the post office in Hallow.
The winning entries in the three size categories – small, medium and large – will be awarded with their prize at a barbecue at Hallow Parish Hall on Sunday at 3.30pm.
