Former Premier League assistant referee Steven Dorr is facing trial next week on charges of befriending teenage boys and offering to pay one for sex.

He pleaded not guilty in January to four breaches of a sexual offences prevention order imposed in January 2009 for downloading child pornography.

In a 20-minute pre-trial review at Worcester Crown Court, 41-year-old Dorr, of Bridge Street, Worcester, had his bail renewed on condition that he does not have contact with people under the age of 18. The trial is estimated to last four days.

The former chairman of Worcester Referees Society was given a three-year community order when the Sopo was imposed and banned from working with or associating with children.

A jury will be asked to consider allegations that between December 1, 2009, and February 14 last year he attempted to befriend a person under the age of 17.

He is also charged with having contact with a person under the age of 17 in February last year. A third charge alleges he attempted to arrange the commission of child sex offences by offering to pay a 15-year-old boy to participate in sexual activity.

He has denied all offences.
