A pupil has been given an award for his outstanding dedication to his school.
Kai Archer, aged 11, who has just started his first year at Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worc-=ester, was presented the John Bue Award in his final year at Dines Green Primary School.
Steve Gough, headteacher at the primary school in Tudor Way, Worcester, said the award recognised Kai’s skills as an “all rounder”.
He said: “This is the second time we have given the award. It’s given to someone outstanding. Kai is a fantastic lad. He hasn’t had the easiest of times, but he has been outstanding in everything he’s done.
“He’s worked incredibly hard. He captained the football team and played even when he wasn’t living in the area, attending matches when he could.
“He’s supported other pupils and he was lovely to work with and lovely to teach. Sometimes you just need to reward that and he just stood out as a really good all rounder.
“We work very much on a positive locum. Our whole ethos is ‘be positive’ and we find children respond so well to that. We like to reward our children, sometimes only in the small ways, but it means an awful lot.”
The award was given to the school by Mr Bue’s family in recognition of his support of the Dines Green community.
The father-of-two, who founded a dental practice in Gresham Road in 2002, was killed in a motorcycle accident in June 2009.
