Phil Parkinson made two changes at Burton as his hunt for a first win as City boss reached its sixth game.

Sunderland midfielder Adam Reed was given an immediate debut. He took over from Chris Mitchell, who was not even named on the bench.

Jon McLaughlin was back as the substitute keeper.

Ritchie Jones was expected to take on the right-hand role with Reed alongside Michael Flynn in the middle.
