A MAN from Worcester who breached a restraining order three times in one day has been warned he could go to prison if he does it again.

Lee Cleveley, of Tunnel Hill, was ordered by Hereford Crown Court not to contact Mandy McDonald in April.

On Monday, October 3, Cleveley approached his former partner in Foregate Street, Worcester, before following her into Tesco Express.

Matt Dodson, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said Cleveley was asking Miss McDonald to go with him and saying he loved her.

Tesco staff contacted the police. Later that afternoon, the 36-year-old approached Miss McDonald while she was with a friend in Gala Bingo, in Foregate Street.

Mr Dodson said: “He accused her of being a slag and said she had nicked all his money.

“The defendant left the bingo hall when a member of staff approached.”

Mr Dodson said Cleveley approached his former partner again as she walked home to her flat.

Cleveley was holding a bottle of vodka and accused the man she was with of being her new boyfriend. Becky Connelly, defending said her client has been struggling with alcohol and heroin issues but is currently seeking help and working closely with the probation service.

She said Cleveley has pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order on the basis he was the victim of a theft at his home address and had only approached Miss McDonald in a bid to get his money back.

The Crown Prosecution Service did not accept the basis of the plea and said a further hearing was necessary to fully explore the matter.

Cleveley will re-appear on Monday, November 7.

He was released on bail on the condition he lives with his mother in Stourport and only comes in to Worcester for meetings with the probation service and the community drugs team.

Chair of the bench, Michael Brazier, told Cleveley: “If this woman contacts you, report it to the police. If you breach this order again you will be in very serious trouble.”
