POLICE are warning shoppers to be vigilant after a distraction theft in a Worcestershire supermarket car park.

The victim, a woman in her 60s, was putting her shopping into her car on the Co-Op car park in Franche Road, Kidderminster at about 2pm on Wednesday, October 12 when she was approached by two men who started asking for directions to London.

While she was being distracted, another two men opened her car door and took her purse from the passenger seat.

A member of the public saw what was happening and approached the man who had the purse. They handed it over and ran off.

The offenders, who are believed to be Eastern Europeans, got into a vehicle, thought to be a dark coloured hatchback, and drove off.

Also on Wednesday on the car park at around the same time another woman was approached by men holding a map book who asked if she could help them but she refused and locked her car door.
