THERE will be no tweeting from councillors in one part of Worcestershire, with a ban on social media during meetings looking likely.
Wychavon District Council scrutineers will see a draft of the council’s emerging social media rules next Tuesday.
It says councillors will not be allowed to use Twitter, Facebook or any other social media during council meetings.
However councillors, the public and the press who are not directly involved in meetings will be free to do so.
In the report by Ian Marshall, council legal chief, councillors will not be allowed to use any social media or a “mobile device” as “the full attention of councillors who are members of committees and sub-committees is required at all times.
“These councillors must not be distracted by using social media or any mobile devices.”
