THIS atmospheric snapshot of singer Mari Randle has been named the winner of this year’s Worcester Music Festival photography competition.

Amateur photographer Toni Charles, aged 27, from Kidderminster, took the black and white shot during a performance by sister-led band Vault of Eagles at the Worcester Arts Workshop during the three-day festival in August.

The winning shot was chosen from a final 25, whittled down from nearly 170 entries, and was the only photograph to be chosen by all three judges in the selection process.

Miss Charles said: “I love taking pictures at small gigs and of bands so the festival was a great excuse to take lots of photos.

“Winning was a complete surprise, I never expected it with so many great entries.”

The runners-up were Tania Field, who came second, and Sarah Colquitt, third, the first time all three top spots have been taken by women.
