A NEW play area designed by a year two pupil at a county school has been built thanks to a £4,000 grant.
Powick Primary School installed the tyre area after it was given the grant by the Tesco Charity Trust, which has handed out more than £275,000 nationally to support children’s welfare and education.
The new area provides extended space for outdoor learning and physical activity during and after the school day.
Headteacher Richard Drewett said: “The tyre park, which was designed by a child in year two, is extremely popular and is in constant use.
“We appreciate the support Tesco has given, it’s a great resource. We are also indebted to the Friends of Powick School who contributed time and additional funding to the project.”
Kate Potham, community champion for the St Peter’s store, said: “This donation reinforces our commitment to support community initiatives. We are delighted to help Powick Primary School and know that the pupils will benefit from this addition to their facilities.”
