NICHOLAS Clark, having given talks to the club on many previous occasions, entertained members with his experiences while teaching on an exchange visit at a school in Corsica.

This was a 12-month assignment, and, together with his family, gave him the opportunity to explore the island and get involved in the culture in some depth.

To give some idea of the size of the island, he compared it with the counties of Worcestershire Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Warwickshire put together, but whereas these counties have a combined population of approximately two million Corsica has only a population of 250,000.

This is due to the fact that Corsica is very mountainous and has many isolated villages.

It is a paradise for walkers to enjoy the wonderful scenery and flora. His usual humorous manner made for a pleasant morning.

Members meet every Thursday morning at the Environmental Centre, Pope Iron Road, and at present the club is open to new members. Telephone 01905 452456.
