AT our latest social afternoon, we enjoyed good food with some good friends as we endeavoured to say thank you for all the support which is so readily extended to us.
Opportunity was taken to present certificates to the many long-standing supporters, as a permanent acknowledgement of their efforts.
Particularly moving was the presentation of the certificate for Danny Gartland to his widow.
Poppy Appeal Award Certificates were presented to: Janet Owen (five years service), Sylvia Ashmore (20 years), Betty Wolsey (20 years), Cliff Hedges (25 years), Greta Hedges (25 years), Danny Gartland ( many years – presented to his widow), Bill Manning (many years), Freda Moran (many years), Doreen Wyres (many years) and Jack Ashmore (many years).
Many years services refers to in excess of 20 years.
Our appreciation to Stoke Works social club for providing the venue, while chairman Alan Quine and myself acknowledge the support of all committee members, particularly David Hosford and Peter Robinson.
