ELGAR Group WI took a behindthe- scenes tour of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford.
From a friendly reception on the ground floor, we were able to take the lifts to explore the upper two floors and take an optional tour of the tower, with its breathtaking views.
For a group of 20, we had two dedicated tour guides (one also acted as a very welcome lift attendant as there were many stairs).
They imparted so much knowledge and insight into the inner workings of the technology involved in running the theatre.
The ground floor coffee bar and top floor restaurant provided excellent fare.
Much was learned and thoroughly enjoyed on a lovely autumn day by the Avon.
