A CAR crash is delaying rail passengers during the rush-hour commute.

A car left the road near the Bowling Green Inn in Shaw Lane near Bromsgrove at about 3.39pm today, ending up on a steep embankment which runs down onto the busy Birmingham to Worcester mainline.

The British Transport Police (BTP) shut both the rail lines, but reopened one set of rails just before 5pm to get some rail passengers on their way.

The driver of the car was treated for his injuries by paramedics at the scene.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash.

London Midland and CrossCountry rail services were disrupted with some services cancelled.

CrossCountry moving services onto the Hereford line and diverting through Stourbridge causign delays.

It is not known when normal service is set to resume as the car’s position is making it “difficult to clear away”, according to a BTP spokesman.

The crash investigation is now being dealt with by officers from West Mercia Police who are seeking witnesses to the crash.
