FIREPLACES worth around £2,600 in total have been stolen from a shop in Norton, near Evesham.

The burglary happened between 5pm and 10pm on Monday, October 24.

Thieves broke into the shop and took six fireplaces, which were on sale inside, as well as a silver Carrick cooker, a bagless Electrolux vacuum cleaner and an Indesit washing machine.

The stolen fireplaces include a Catheram ‘Abbey' wooden fire surround, a Dimplex ‘Wesley' fire surround, a Valor electric suite, in off white, a Dimplex ‘Detroit' electric fire and a Dimplex ‘Charlotte' electric fire.

A spokesman from West Mercia Police said: "With winter upon us and temperatures dropping, it's the time of year when people are beginning to use their fires and might look to replace them if they've come to the end of their life.

"We urge people not to be tempted by 'bargains' for sale down the pub or out the back of a van.

"If you're considering buying any of the items listed above and are suspicious of its origins - or have any information about this incident - please call West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000 quoting 0755S 241011, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
