EVESHAM United have booted disgraced striker Leo Brown out of the club following his conviction for producing cannabis.
The Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division outfit took a hard line against the player after he pleaded guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court to producing the drug at his home and possessing a CS gas canister. Brown was given a three-month jail term suspended for a year and ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
Robins chairman Jim Cockerton felt his club could not be associated with the player any longer following his court appearance.
“We are a community club who have more than 200 children playing here and we will not tolerate drugs, full-stop,” Cockerton said.
“The committee met earlier in the week and we have cancelled Leo’s registration.
“The player has not featured since the end of August anyway but we cannot be seen to be condoning this sort of behaviour.”
Keeper Nathan Vaughan remains contracted to the club with Evesham yet to hold their internal disciplinary inquiry on the player.
Manager Paul West said the shot-stopper is facing the sack for his repeated ill-discipline on the pitch.
