HEREFORD United will have David Cornell between the posts for their FA Cup first round clash with League One basement boys Yeovil Town after all on Saturday (3pm).

The Bulls director of football Gary Peters said this afternoon that Wales under 21s manager Brian Flynn had put his foot down and insisted that on-loan stopper heads out to Armenia with the rest of the squad tomorrow after the Football Association of Wales agreed to release the 20-year-old earlier in the week.

However, late last night the Swansea City youngster said that he was making his way back to the Edgar Street outfit ready for Saturday’s cup.

He said on Twitter tonight: “On the way back to Hereford ready for Saturday! Nice two-hour drive from Reading.”

Had the keeper not been able to return to Edgar Street, the Bulls would have been left without a stopper as Adam Bartlett has a thigh injury and coach Russell Hoult has ruled himself out.

If Cornell had got on the plane with the rest of Flynn’s squad for Tuesday night’s Euro 2013 qualifier, Peters and Hereford manager Jamie Pitman would have had to find a replacement by midday tomorrow.

“We just don’t have anyone. We have been trying all week to find someone — it is unbelievable,” Peters said this afternoon.

With Hereford now knowing that they will have Cornell, who will join up with the rest of the Wales squad after the Yeovil game, Peters and Pitman can now focus on the match after admitting it had taken up much of their focus this week.

Yeovil will be fielding their goalkeeping coach Gareth Stewart as Marek Stech is on Czech Republic Under 21s international duty.

With confusion surrounding Cornell’s availability now solved, the Bulls know that they will be without on-loan striker Tom Barkhuisen and midfielder Steven Leslie as their parent clubs have refused them permission to play.

“Their clubs may want them to play in the later rounds so we understand why they can’t play,” Peters added.
