Damning Ofsted report leads to school meeting

A MEETING has been called so that concerned parents with children at Droitwich Spa High School can discuss issues raised by a damning Ofsted report.

Headteacher Natalie Waters has organised the meeting and sent letters to parents after inspectors graded the overall effectiveness of the school as “inadequate”.

The report, which was published on Monday, November 7, said the Briar Mill school has been given notice to improve the progress made by all students, particularly in mathematics. It rated the school as grade four, the lowest mark available. It puts it in the bottom nine per cent of schools in the country and has left many parents demanding answers.

The meeting to discuss the report’s findings will be held at the school today at 7pm.

The headteacher is expected to tell parents what the school is doing to address Ofsted’s criticism before hearing any questions. In a letter to parents, she said: “I expect many of you will have used the last few days to take a look at the Ofsted report for yourselves.

“A number of parents have already been in touch and I would like to thank those of you who have sent in supportive comments.

“I will give a short introduction and explain what the school is doing to address Ofsted’s criticism, but the occasion will be principally to hear your questions and to develop an open discussion.”
