EVESHAM United manager Paul West hopes six new faces will help kickstart their Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division campaign, starting tomorrow against Barwell at St George’s Lane (3pm).

He has brought in former Aston Villa trainee keeper David Bevan, ex-Coventry City youngster Ben Mackey, Rugby Town’s player-of-the-year Melvin Gourlay, Swiss striker Kevin Vogeli, who began the season at Stourbridge, Ivory Coast winger Casimir Pangne and defender Ryan Keen from Swedish football.

Bevan, who joined from Division One Central side Daventry with Pangne, was one of West’s top targets.

“When we had a break a couple of weeks ago, there were three players I wanted,” he said. “David was one as were Melvin and Ben. But, given the situation we are in, I felt we needed to freshen up the squad even more.

“Although we lost 2-1 to a very fine Leamington side, the performance was quite good. Now the players must start rolling their sleeves up as we are in a big fight.”
